Put On A Smile (POAS) Scholarships At Richmond Hill High School

Purpose:

Put On A Smile (POAS) is proud to sponsor several annual scholarships awarded to high school seniors. If you are a graduating senior and currently attending RICHMOND HILL HIGH SCHOOL, you may be eligible for a $5,000 award from the POAS Scholarship Fund towards your 4-year degree at any college of your choice in the United States.

POAS has been able to carry its mission with support from many community business leaders, philanthropists, and benevolent individuals. Scholarships are essential as they offer students financial support and encouragement to advance their education. Thanks to our sponsors, we can empower our next generation of dreamers, innovators, and creators.

POAS will annually offer three scholarships (Excellence in Community Service and Leadership, Excellence in Arts & Music, Tri-Med Scholarship for Exceptional ENL Achievement) in the amount of $5,000 each. Each scholarship will be disbursed in the amount of $1,250 during each academic year (up to 4 years) in which they are enrolled in a full-time matriculated, four-year degree-granting program at an accredited US college or university. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2023. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must complete the scholarship application found at www.PutOnASmile.org. On the application, students must select one of the three scholarships for which they would like to be considered.

An impartial selection committee will choose the winners based on criteria including written answers to application questions, scholastic average, class standing, overall school record, potential for academic success, and a letter of recommendation from a Richmond Hill High School faculty member or other academic or professional mentor (optional). The committee will identify candidates that demonstrate potential in excelling as scholars and leaders.

POAS promotes an equal opportunities policy. Scholarship awards are based on merit following a fair and transparent selection process.
